Camshaft Info: TC have a larger rod to stroke ratio than EVO's. (1.92TC vs 1.75 EVO.) This makes cam selection very critical. Why? A larger stroke ratio means less acceleration away from TDC and BDC, ie. more dewll time for the piston. This is done so that ignition charge has more time to complete combustian, ie. better emmisions. What this does to cam selection is that higher overlap large durations cam specs that worked in the EVOs don't work. In TCs they just give you a large hole in your torque curve and power peak @ 6500 RPM. Therefore the best cams for TCs 95"-106" have always been small duration, small overlap cams, ie Andrews TW37 (95") Andrews TW31 (103") Andrews TW50 (106"). They provide the best torque without sacrificing top end power. Questions and Answers: Q. Why do you recommend the Roller Chain Cams for '07 and later bikes? A. We recommend gear drive cams for earlier bikes, but the chain system on the '07 and later bikes works well. The customer may want to upgrade to gear drives, but we don't feel it is necessary.
